What is Life Coaching?
Coaching is the art of helping people grow and maximize their potential without telling them what to do. Life coaches help people navigate life transitions, set goals, establish priorities for their lives, make important changes, lower stress, create action plans and more.
So how would coaching work for you?
In a coaching relationship, you choose what you want to work on, you set your own goals and actions—in other words, you are always in charge. What a coach brings to the table is a set of professional skills and a process for helping you understand your identity in Christ, identify what you really want in life, design action plans to reach what you want in life, and the encouragement to carry out your action plans.
Most importantly, a life coach can help you discover and realize your specific, tailor made Life Purpose, while developing a deeper intimate relationship with God.
- Coaches are change experts who help leaders take responsibility to maximize their own potential. – Tony Stoltzfus
- Coaching is the art and practice of guiding a person or group from where they are toward a greater competence and fulfillment they desire. - Gary Collins
- Coaching concentrates on where clients are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. – ICF definition of coaching
Types of Coaching
There are basically two types of coaching processes:
- Performance Coaching
- Transformational Coaching.
Performance coaching addresses specific, short-term goals that you are motivated to pursue and achieve. It deals more with WHAT God has called you to DO (Purpose).
Transformational Coaching addresses who you are becoming, and deals with WHO God has created you to BE (Identity). This typically encompasses discovering and realizing your Life Purpose.
What kind of coaching type do you desire? We offer both. Which you choose depends on where you want to go and how you want to approach responding to God’s specific call on your life.
